Hugging Face is a for-profit company (albeit a rather unusual one), so there's nothing wrong with charging a fee.
However, when it comes to services related to money (GPU Spaces, Zero GPU Spaces, Serverless Inference API...), things like giving advance notice of major construction projects or announcing major changes to as many users as possible... these kinds of “reporting, communication, and consultation” are a bit too fickle. When there's a detailed explanation, a very detailed blog post will be published...
Even if HF has the intention to make it transparent and does make it transparent, if no one can see it, it's the same as if it wasn't transparent, so I'd like that area to be a bit more stable...
If HF posts “We're going to implement a major change. It'll be unstable for a few days” when they're going to make a major change, that would be enough...😭
It is if the person was not aware they were being charged. A company can get in a lot of trouble with that one.
Yeah, I was testing something also which I started about 24 hours ago and not only is it no longer working but evidently, I owe someone .02 cents. Not happy about that little surprise at all. Crazy thing is when I surfed on the internet it said this site was free. Guessing that is not the case for just checking it out.
yea. previously, huggingface used to give 1000 requests per day now idk but maybe it reduced it to 3 requests to text models (sigh) per month.
