question about the two versions
whats the difference between the '-detail-calibrated-' file and the other?
yea i read that. was not clear. if i could guess, it gives better results? but i could be guessing wrong too. 2:1 merge ratio?
disclaimer: I'm surely no expert, below is my understanding / guessing...
If you take a look to the Live AIM Training Logs, you'll see a large
task in addition to the standard base
and fast
ones. This large
task has started some weeks ago, before the "detail-calibrated" versions appeared. I guess the 2:1 ratio is either the merging ratio of base
/ fast
vs large
, or it may be linked to the learning rate that was indeed 2:1 at the beginning. This is only my guessing...
Initially,
@lodestones
indicated that training on large images would start around v48-v50, but I imagine it was anticipated.
For the results, I find that the "detail-calibrated" versions may bring more illustrations (but better details, hands, ...) compared to the standard ones that are more "photo" (but sometimes less "stable").
But, as per my humble tests, those differences tend to decrease, and it seems things are converging. I compare each version with the previous, on given sets of prompts / seeds / configs: I found that the v42-detail-calibrated
sometimes now brings photos where the v41-detail-calibrated
(and previous) brought illustrations (and I only prompt for photos).
What I can say for sure: Chroma is getting better at each version, even if some issues may appear. For example, with v42-detail-calibrated
, some deformities / "melted faces" have appeared on some prompts / seeds, but I'm 100% confident this will stabilize in the near future. And also, I find that, whatever the version (standard vs "detail-calibrated"), Chroma handles large resolutions (1216x1216, ...) way better now.
What I don't know: how the standard and "detail-calibrated" are generated? For example, is v42
standard based on the v41-detail-calibrated
+ new training steps from base
task, or is v42-detail-calibrated
based on v42
+ new training steps from large
task? Or are they completely separated?
To be taken with a pinch of salt, but I hope this helps.
